I am educated in Wales and pursued my bachelor’s degree in ceramics there. After that, I lived there for a significant part of my adult life. Today, I am active in Örebro and work in figurative ceramic sculpture.
The subject of the art that I create is focused on the human condition.
For me, it’s the symbolic, and the small details that create a story and wholeness in my art pieces. I like to emphasize atmospheres and create dreamy narratives, in that way finding meaning in the artistic work.
I am mainly using clay to craft my sculptures, building them hollow and shaping the pieces as the process unfolds.
By sculpting in clay and allowing the forms to organically emerge, I’m creating unique works that carry a sense of depth and personal significance. Focusing on details and crafting a narrative in each sculpture gives the work a unique identity and elevates them beyond mere physical objects.
I have a fascination with the material itself, drawing parallels in the structure of clay to ourselves and our own bodies. Clay in its raw and malleable form can represent change, transformation, and the human psyche, contrasting with fired clay that becomes hard as bone. Its structure and chemistry bear resemblance to our bodies and offer numerous metaphorical messages that can be paralleled with the human condition.
